WELCOME

SHARE is Our Union

Welcome to UMass Memorial Hospital, and to SHARE! By becoming a member of our union, you have unique opportunities to participate at work . . . to have a say about your own experience. We built our union from the ground-up, right here at UMass Memorial. We believe in doing everything with kindness, respect, and, whenever possible, a sense of humor. And we look forward to including your perspective.

SHARE gives us a voice at work in several different ways:

  • In contract negotiations, we have a voice in our pay, benefits and work policies

  • In union meetings and individual conversations, we have a voice in the direction and priorities of the union

  • Through Unit Based Teams —small, localized work groups that directly involve union members in cooperative leadership roles — we improve patient care, and our own experience at work

  • Through the problem-solving process, we have a voice when individual problems/conflicts come up at work

  • In union elections, we have a voice in who our representatives will be

  • Through committees and ad-hoc negotiations, we have a voice in issues that face groups of SHARE members

If you haven't already, we encourage you to explore. As you can see, this site includes answers to Frequently Asked Questions, a complete copy of our union's Contract Agreement with the hospital (including policies), and some inspiring portraits of SHARE members, among other things.

If we missed you at the orientation session for your new job, please be sure to sign your membership card. We're always experimenting with new ways to be connected, including virtual information meetings and introductions for new members, but we encourage you to reach out if you don’t hear from us first. (Sometimes it can take a while for your membership to be processed and your information included in our database. If you aren’t yet receiving email updates, you can find the latest on the SHARE Blog.)

Most importantly, let’s keep in touch. SHARE takes pride in keeping members connected and taking care of one another. Please call or email with any other thoughts or questions. We look forward to talking with you more soon . . .
